A remake! While the original Dawn of the Dead is my favourite gore-fest horror film of all time (and one of the best statements on American/our consumer society ever committed to the screen - and when you see it will make you understand just why 28 Days is such derivative tripe!!!!) I will just have to go and see this!

There have been many remakes of this have there not?

I get confused you know! :(

The one i have seen was set in a shopping mall......4 people just hold up and took advantage of the shopping mall whilst shooting the odd zombie etc etc..........Then the bikers showed up and ruined it............the end!

EDIT: LOL well seems the same after i watched the trailer!

There have been many zombie films but the real classics are the George A Romero trilogy: Night of the Living Dead (which has an 80s colour remake which wasn't too bad - directed by Tom Savini who did the prosthetic gore for the trilogy) then the best of 'em all 'Dawn of the Dead' - and one of the greatest apocalyptic horror films ever, and the final part 'Day of the Dead'. There is a 4th film that's been mooted for years and years (presumably called: 'Lunchtime of the Dead'!!!!) but Dawn of the Dead was the best of them all.

A group of people under extreme threat and stress against a common enemy begin to disintegrate from within. But all the so called 'uncut' versions I've seen since seeing the original have some cut or other, most notably when a bite is taken out of a woman's forearm by her zombie husband...I can remember FEELING myself go white when I saw it. People got up at that point (about 10 minutes in) and walked out of the cinema. Seen that film in many incarnations since but that particular moment has never been reinstated...there's a slight cut before and after to totally eradicate the impact. And the racist SWAT guy, lots of his obscenities have been cut, too.

But those moments...using the lorries to seal off the mall entrances, the 'grab and run' through the mall with the zombies roaming around the place, absolutely superb and characters who are definitely adults...no pandering to the 'teen audience' at all. All the characters are very adult with very adult concerns. Horror with brains (in more ways than one!!!!!!) :(

More than a couple of months late now - but there was a game that went with the entire promotional push for this re-make - you can have a go - here
