Electronic Arts today announced that Medal of Honor Pacific Assault will be available for the PC in the winter of 2004, among other things... the rest of the release is detailed below:
QUOTE
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Aug. 7, 2003 - Step into the boots of a U.S. Marine and drive the Imperial Japanese Army from the Pacific in Medal of Honor Pacific Assault™ from Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS - News). Developed by EA Los Angeles, creators of the award-winning Medal of Honor™ series, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault immerses players in an authentic WWII experience, and will be available for the PC in the winter of 2004 under the EA GAMES™ brand.

Medal of Honor Pacific Assault gives players a sense of the courage it took to fight the Imperial Japanese Army from the shock of Pearl Harbor to triumph on the shores of the Tarawa Atoll. Set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, players will assume the role of Marine recruit Tom Conlin as he survives the attack on Pearl Harbor, leads the assault on Guadalcanal, and finally charges up the beaches for the climatic battle at Tarawa. Armed with their wits and a variety of authentic weapons, it's up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks.

Medal of Honor Pacific Assault follows the tradition of previous Medal of Honor products with a brand new arsenal of weapons, new enemies, and new storyline. In addition, Pacific Assault features new multiplayer modes in which up to 32 players can choose soldiers from American, British, Japanese, and other armies. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault will also debut a new 3D technology built specifically for Medal of Honor.

As with the original Medal of Honor game, the producers sought counsel from numerous expert sources to ensure the game is as historically authentic as possible. EALA continues to work closely with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to ensure Medal of Honor Pacific Assault reflects the ideals and integrity of the prestigious Medal of Honor. In addition, Capt. Dale Dye, who served as military technical advisor on the previous titles in the Medal of Honor franchise, continues his efforts with the Medal of Honor Pacific Assault team. The EA Medal of Honor franchise website is www.moh.ea.com.

Breakthrough demo to be released on Sept 9th MOH website PST so could be very late in the day (as it was with Spearhead).

Review of the game at Eurogamer which says "If more of the same is all you want, then you'll be more than happy with Breakthrough. Sure, the visuals have had a minor makeover, but it's barely noticeable even with the detail level turned up to the max. It's still a good looking game, but it's the gaming equivalent of a dumb action movie for those that don't want to have to think while they shoot. "

In two minds about getting this... probably will though... or not... mind, the MP will probably make up for it... won't it... hmmm

While you're waiting Mundy give Call of Duty a go, it's a fairly nifty demo... much like MOH:AA, but better...

I don't think I'll be buying Breakthrough, there's too many fancy new games on the way to be concerned with an expansion pack of an ageing FPS, just my humble opinion though.

Me too, I doubt I'll be buying the full game, but it'll still be interesting to see what they've done in an attempt to make me spend my money...

Wonder if this demo will have the same problem as the Spearhead did, that had to be patched... didn't it?

Yes, they had to release a patch within days of the demo coming out. The liberation mode sounds good though. Yet to decide if I will buy the full release.

Tried the demo - can't find a server that doesn't run like a 2 legged dog. Even with servers showing ping of 70 its terrible (I'm on 1 Mb BB BTW)

Looks like more of the same but i like MOHAA and Spearhead (except it was too short / easy) so I'll probably buy this from someone doing £12.99 to the door..

There no SP demo ????????

I have similar problems, the profesionally run servers (i.e. those free of lag) seem to be full all the time :( , I did notice an option to use mines as a weapon though, that looked fun... in a jerky kind of what-on-eath-is-happening kind of way.

Did they release a SP of Spearhead? I can't remember one, maybe a worrying indication to how short the expansion will be....

Oh, and by the by, there's a brief movie of Pacific Assault available now, it's a mere 2.7mbs though, so don't expect too much..

Did either of you ever manage to give the demo a proper try out?

I've given up and uninstalled it... You'd think that EA would've been kind enough to set-up servers for common folk to play the demo on, as it stands I'll not bother getting Breakthrough - there's far too many other games that'll be clamouring for my attention by the time it's released.

Downloaded the Breakthrough Demo a while ago but haven't played it yet (just no time at the mo) :( Looks like I'm not missing anything then.

Spearhead - sorry (missed the SP bit) I was referring to the Spearhead MP demo which if you remember was the Malta map, I'm not aware of a single player demo.
