2015 (makers of the original Medal of Honor:Allied Assault), have been speaking to Gamegossip.com about their up-coming game - Men of Valor: Vietnam.

Asked to describe a mission John Whitmore (director of development) had this to say:
QUOTE
One mission has the player and his unit moving out across country in M113 APCs to investigate and clear a hamlet that is suspected of being a headquarters for local Viet Cong guerrillas. As they cross a series of rice paddies, the player’s APC gets bogged down in the mud and they are forced to disembark and slog through the paddies on foot.

VC who have been tracking the unit’s progress use this opportunity to begin an ambush, and the player and his squad use the APC for cover as VC units try to overrun them or pick them off. After the player successfully repels a few VC attacks, the guerrillas set up a mortar to begin shelling the stationary APC. As the rounds strike closer, the player must retreat under covering fire and try to link up with the rest of his unit, whose APC has been hit further up the rice paddy.
This mission really captures the vulnerable feeling of having to cross open areas under fire, and the bullets whizzing over head and slamming into the mud as mortar explosions draw ever closer really make you sweat. And that’s just the opening of the mission!

And as for multiplayer:
QUOTE
We are supporting a co-op mode that allows two players to play through the entire single player campaign together. We also have deathmatch and team deathmatch games where the player can choose from a variety of character classes, from an ARVN Ranger to an NVA Sapper, each with its own characteristics and abilities. There other specialized game types, including an objective based mode where two teams can fight in battles based on historical encounters of the war.

There's a collection of screenshots to be seen here

It's yet another war game, and although we've managed to move on from the trenches of World War 2, it looks like we're going to be dragged through the forests of Vietnam in the near future.

More info on Men of Valor can be found on the official site

Long time since I mentioned anything about this title, but Gamespot have recently announced that a multiplayer demo will be released on Friday.

Have a read of the most recent preview for more information on the game..

QUOTE
In this mission, you're sent right in to battle. You'll follow your teammates as you scramble around the flaming ruins of your base while taking fire from enemy soldiers. Though you have only a pistol to begin with, you can equip yourself with weapons from fallen enemies and from, in some cases, comrades by pressing your "use" key while you're searching a corpse. Both versions of the game have similar interfaces, so both provide a compass in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and an aegis that appears in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, which indicates your current health level. You sustain two kinds of damage in Men of Valor: lingering "permanent" damage (indicated by a dark red stain on the aegis) and bleeding damage (indicated by a flashing red stain on the aegis). You can use bandages to stanch bleeding (although this hinders your movement), but you'll need to find first aid kits to treat permanent wounds.

Certainly looks one to look out for. The Vietnam conflict appears to be very much in vogue at the moment, although I'm still currently entrenched in the 1940's .

So, it's meant to be available sometime today - maybe we could all download it and have a forum outing to try it out?

Then we can all swear together as we struggle to find the key to reload...

Whilst we await the demo release some more...

IGN and HomeLAN Fed have hands-on impressions of the game for your persual.

QUOTE (HomeLAN Fed)
In addition to vanilla Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes, there are several other team based multiplayer modes in Men of Valor, including Frontline (the game’s version of Capture and Hold) Recover the Documents (one team tries to gain some documents while the opposing team tries to stop them) and the Multiplayer Missions (a objectives based mode) The 16 levels have a wide variety of settings, from the Cambodian jungle ruins to a multi-leveled bombed out urban setting. Our only real problem with the multiplayer modes is no drivable vehicles in the levels; there are vehicles in multiplayer but they are basically just set dressing, bombed out and non-operational.

Our brief time with the PC build of Men of Valor Thursday makes the waiting for the final retail version even more of a struggle. We have seen a lot of Vietnam based shooters already released for the PC this year but Men of Valor is shaping up to be the best of the bunch. VUGames plans to release a multiplayer PC demo of Men of Valor later today and the final PC version is scheduled to ship to stores on Oct. 26.

No vehicles in multiplayer? What a refreshing change...

Released!

Grab it from Filerush (torrent only), 3D Gamers, Gamers Hell or Worthplaying

The demo is said to feature "a large urban map and a smaller jungle map, playable in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Multiplayer Mission modes using three player classes (rifleman, machinegunner, and sniper)."

Anyone tried this out, yet? I'm in the process of downloading it and wondered if anyone had actually tried the demo out online?

Oooh.. well...

I've given it a go, for no more than half an hour or so - meaning that I've only had the chance to play the jungle map, but from what I saw - I'm not impressed... The game just didn't have any 'wow' factor for me..

Am I right in thinking you can only play it via Gamespy at the moment? Couldn't get the damn thing to run...not uncommon with me!

I didn't install Gamespy Lermontov - I've just settled for using the in-game browser, seems to work fine for me.

The problem with MP demos is that there never tends to be any decent servers allowing you to test it out fully, meaning that you have to settle for a 3 on 3 match, with huge lag spikes everytime you're about to do something good...

Wasn't impressed with this MP for the same reasons that Ghost has given. Very few servers with dreadful lag.

The graphics look well and all that shooting in the jungle reminded me of SOF2.

However, wasn't enough to tempt me back for more.
