Sony's new contoller is actually a master-stroke of design.

Oh sure, it no longer rumbles - but we found out long ago that only perverts like to have vibrating game apparatus to play with.

With the tilt sensor Sony have actually watched gamers very closely, and noticed how some gamers will tilt the controller in an attempt to make that corner at high speed.

For instance, last lap of a race you need to win - you've probably just approached the final corner at too high a speed, so you press down the pad (very hard - because the harder you press the better the button works), and begin leaning (with pad in hand) the way you want your vehicle to go.

And then you still spin out and crash, finish 7th and have to start the entire race all over again.

But no longer - now your desperate leanings will be picked up by the contoller, and transferred into on screen actions!

I salute you Mr. Sony - truly your visions are beyond those of mere mortals.

Oh sure, but Nintendo don't believe in the strength of this trait as much as Sony - which is why they've gone and added other new-fangled bits of technology to their pad - like the 'accelerometer functionality'

Sony have put all their faith in the wonder of tilting, and not hedged their bets on this one at all - vibrating pads? Psh! Nunchucks? Piffle! New-fangled technology? Ha!

Deviously cunning understated tilt function, that could have been 'borrowed' from somewhere else for the win!

Yes, he seems to be suffering from delerium again...

Tilting a controller will only lead to pain in other games though. Platform game and on the edge? Shooting distant enemy or flying a helicopter with many teammates onboard? And besides, using the cross pad thing maxed out will be no different from using the tilt function as that will max out at the same point (unless designed to be more sensitive/greater input sensitivity). Silly boy.
