A lot of years ago I bought a flatbed scanner and at the time there was a version of Photoshop free with it (it was about 3 version jumps down the ladder, but was still a legit copy). Over the years when I've been in funds I've upgraded the version and now it's a CS1 (not 2).
Photoshop is a Great tool. Paintshop Pro is an affordable alternative and offers a lot of tools that can also be found in PShop. In fact you can get Paintshop Pro 8 for as little as £20, and personally I rate it on par with the new version 10 which is about £90. (I've certainly not found out what version 10 has upgraded to that degree). Photoshop however is the place I'm happiest when I'm not gaming or deep in a book. It's a digital darkroom for all the photography I play with but more than that it's the place I go to explore. I can spend hours or days on stuff and never finish it (just ask Pig (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ). Anyhow, part of the reason I wanted to post this was to include this link to a site a friend pointed out. The Retouching case studies allow you to see the stages that an image went through to reach the end result and some of it is an eye opener. It's impressive to see just how much we're willing to believe is real. http://www.taylorjames.com/photographic-re...g/tj-menu-3.php |

That's quite funky - nice to watch it all build up from scratch too.
Oh, if only I were talented. |
