My graphics card was overheating becuase being the silly person i am i was overclocking it and its only passivly cooled so i attached a fan with some blutac.
Its very quiet considering its just plugged in and theres nothing to control the speed. ![]() --------------------

That is just great.......! I see that you must have taken alot of pointers from "Blue Peter" then.
Next thing you know, cardboard air ducts And seeing as you used cloth for the opened PCI slots, I take it your using cloth for the front intake fans as well?? They certainly do beat "expensive" fan filters! -------------------- |

Precisly cloth is cheaper and just as effective.
The heatsink was cold when i felt it after shutting down, even with overclocking. --------------------

Impressive - needs some sticky back plastic to really gain the Blue Peter seal of approval (do they still say/do that?)
But still, impressive improvisation! |

To think that is no ordinary standard fan, it is Temperature Sensor Controlled

I need to get the machine up on my bed to do the cloth properly becuase i did that behind my desk and couldnt really reach so its got a gap on the side, in the end when i can be bothered i'll just drill the bottom of the case.

Done, now the cloth is covering all the gaps in the back and no dust can get it, saves me the job of cleaning it out
Now all i need is a blue peter badge to stick to it. This post has been edited by Cataclysm=J: Dec 8 2005, 18:40 --------------------

Doesn't blue tack sweat when it gets hot? Also, from previous experience of hanging pictures it's a tendency to lose it's stickiness.
Not criticizing. I'm as impressed as any, it's like watching a cross between the A-team and a boy scout (well and a nerd) |

To be honest i dont think it matters too much its a temp job and its not really under much pressure, im more worries about the loose connector below it (cant see in the pic) being drawn into the fan and smashing it to pieces, but i'm sure i'll know about it if that does happen.
I just dont leave my PC on overnight now. This post has been edited by Cataclysm=J: Dec 8 2005, 23:49 --------------------

I doubt the area there is hot enough to do bad to the blue tack since it would at least be around room temperature and it would still stick well.
Besides, maybe if you are bothered enough, you could as well cut a huge hole and make drill holes for the fan at the bottom of the case. Be a great time to use a dremel rotary tool! Or just get some silicon/rubber fan gromets and place the fan on it, that way it will be slightly raised from bottom of the case and still be able to pull air up whilst also not being prone to vibration noise. -------------------- |
