'lo,

I'm in dire need of recommendations of rather good PS2 games that I can pad my Christmas list out with, multiplayer-styled ones would be nice, as that way I can achieve victory over Mrs.Pig and make amends for my repeated losses at 'real world' games...

Ta Muchly!

Hows about the Bishi Bashi games? Not sure if there are any PS2 releases since last I remember they were PS1 but would still work! You get like hundreds of silly and very fun games that would make it great for parties, and especially good for this time of the year with lots of them.

San Andreas - maybe.

I don't really want Killzone - as it's meant to be poo, and because I don't see the point in buying FPS for the console when I have plenty of adequate titles to sate that need on the PC.

I considered Mashed, but thought that their was bond to be better 'must-have' titles for the PS2

Piggie, there's a game coming out on multiple formats including PC and PS2 that I'm probably gonna ask my eldest bro for for me for Christmas, and knowing your preference towards sharp pointy things maybe you should give it a look.

It's a step on from the last one with beefed up combat - Prince of Persia : Warrior Within

Some of the reviews put it as PofP : Sands of Time but heavy on the combat.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/568/568834p1.html

a few vids of it (not sure if this is pc or ps2)

http://www.princeofpersiagame.com/uk/videos.php

a platformer with legs, a twirly 'tache and You're name's Errol.

or something. :w00t:

Heard bad things about Rouge Agent too..

Warrior Within I played the PC demo of (honestly, I posted a link and my thoughts about the fact that the demo was wonky as I was repeatedly pulled to the bottom of the screen) - it looked mighty good though, and I can't say that I'm not tempted (the combat is a rather large leap from that of Sands of Time) - but I don't know, I was aiming for the more classic PS2 games - games that people used as a reason to buy a PS2...

Remind me, did you ever have a PSone?

If not you may not have tasted the lovliness that was Wipeout2097. Good tracks, good feel, GOOD music......a wonderous experience and should run on a PS2 as the console's backwardly comp.

Bust-a-move-2 was also a great PSone game. Very much improved when playing against someone.

I did, I did - and I owned Wipeout 2097 too - very classy title that one.

Still, these are PsOne games - is there no real gaming reason to buy a PS2? Or are you all being awkward and making me look by myself?

What about the new MGS title? That's meant to be good, although I don't think it'll be released this side of Christmas

Burnout 3 - is it as good on PS2 as X-Box?

Or Ico... or... one of the other ones...

Looking in the back of Games they have Essential games for each station (about 20 each).

Of these I've only played 3 and all on the xbox rather than the PS2.

However with that in mind, Burnout3 is very nice, as too is SSX3.

I've also heard good things about Devil May Cry even if it's a bit of an oldie.

Not having a ps2 I can't really recommend games specifically for it.

I thought you wanted to have a game that is more multiplayer as you said in your original post Pig. Hence why I am having trouble thinking of some good games as suggestions. But I've thought of some although they are all one genre. If you or the Mrs feel like shooting something and with 2 player fun, why not try games like Time Crisis 2, Vampire Night, or Ninja Assault? You may need to invest a bit more in getting one or two proper control periherals i.e. Guns etc, for these though.

As for single player type games, there are some very good ones coming out although like you said, some of them will not make it this side of Xmas. Devil May Cry 1 & 2 are very good games for constant monster killing and some cool moves & special effects. Metal Gear Solid 3 won't be out till next year I think. Grand Turismo 4 will defiantely not be out till next year if you are interested in that.

There are many more decent games but its just hard to name them at the moment. How many and what games do you have for your PS2 at the moment Pig?

If I owned a PS2 I'd prolly just toss it into the bin :P

My cousin has one and he only uses it to play Doom (Yes the ORIGINAL Doom) and to play dvd's....sigh!

I have none!

Since I don't actually have the PS2 yet, it seemed a bit pointless, I just want something to play on it after Christmas, and indeed, a lovely multiplayer game would be nice - but since I was struggling to think of such things I decided that a single player game wouldn't be all bad

Not really interested in GT4 though, far too realistic, not my type of game
