Or even add a hard drive or something a bit like the X-Box (o how i hate that machine) P.s anyone know a good site for mod chips justy so I can try before i buy maby (please edit this post if it breaches any rules or anythink cheers)

I'm not sure about modding the PS2's fans etc since that might bugger up the console, unless you or some specialists know how to do it. I personally think they are quiet anyways. As for a hard drive, they aren't available in this country yet unless you import the drive online. Only Japan & the US has the hard drive (40GB) & it also comes with Final Fantasy XI pre-installed as well (well for the US as far as I know). It connects via the PS2's USB ports so its external. So it is going to be very expensive if you don't want to wait for whenever it is going to be released here!

I am sure i have seen PS2's modded on the net...
They took it out of the case and placed it onto different cases. But the type of modding you are on about is a bit difficult, especially with the fan's. The big problem would be with the voltage because you can't change a PSU on a PS2 so you would have to be careful is selecting which fan's to put on, also then having to solder them onto the motherboard of the PS2. If the fans are noisey then what i would perhap's do, although i will state this, i have never done this and dont think it has been attempted, but to get a can of spray lubricant and pop the back off the fan and spray into that to quieten the fans down. |
