The Daily Mail is once again trying to defend the feeble populace from mind altering games....

Yes indeed, having played CoD last night, I must admit a strange urge to nip out with my Bren Gun and lay waste to sunny Kent.

Trust the good ol' Daily Mail, eh? I've been seeing glimpses of this on News stands, along with the typical 'ban games they're evil headlines'.

Nothing at all to do with the enviroment the child is raised in, oh no... This type of thing goes back to when Doom was blamed for the Columbine (I think) killings - of course, Doom teaches people how to fire guns, and also gives them real guns too!

Piffle...

'They did a psychiatric test on Leblanc and found he was perfectly normal....'

So I guess it was either the hammer or the knife that was at fault then?

They say any publicity is good publicity....

Manhunt, the video game which has been the focus of recent press attention, has re-entered the games chart at 23.

QUOTE
MCV has an article up with some follow-up to the recent stir caused by connections being drawn by some between a grisly murder and the video game Manhunt. According to the report, "The story of the 'Manhunt' murder case took another twist with the revelation that the game was present in the victim’s home, not the killer's." This may present a problem for those looking to turn this case to their own ends, though MCV's conclusion indicates that the facts in this case have not had that much impact up to this point:
As for the link between Manhunt and the crime, the police are clear. Pooni said: “We haven’t connected the game with the murder and we’ve already made that statement, but some sections of the media chose to ignore it…the motive was robbery.”

Further, from Ordep's interesting findings, is it just another media hype?

Drugs... money... killing. Rather than video game... violence?
